Autumn Tints of the Rhine and Wine Festival

Day 1

Travel to Germany, crossing via Eurotunnel, making suitable comfort stops.

Day 2

Today we take a short coach ride to Wiesbaden, capital of the federal state of Hesse. It is tucked in a lovely valley between the Rhine River and the Taunus Mountains. Wiesbaden is one of the oldest spa towns in Europe. Opportunity to visit the shops and purchase lunch in the market square. Afterwards re-join the coach and travel a short distance to the Nerobergbahn. Join us on a train which shuttles to the top of the Neroberg, the only funicular in the world still using water ballast as a propulsion system. Take the trip to the top of this 245-metre hill and we will see some superb views of the Rhine Valley when we reach the top (price not included, approx. €5 pp). After dinner this evening, join Karen to the 'International' in the Drosselgasse for a Rudesheim coffee (made with Asbach brandy!).

Day 3

Spend the day in Rudesheim taking in the joyous atmosphere. In the morning enjoy a wine tasting at Adolf Storzel. We can keep the glass afterwards and use it to taste the local wines around the town. Look around the stall holders and visit the many unique and individual shops Rudesheim has to offer.

Day 4

Today we take a lovely journey alongside the Rhine. We cross the Rhine over to Bingen and travel along the beautiful Rhine via Bacharach, Oberwesel and pass the Loreli Rock, a steep slate rock that might seem insignificant at first glance. But wait till you hear the myth surrounding it and you will understand why thousands of visitors' flock to look at it. We then continue to St. Goar, a tiny town full of unique attractions to surprise us at every turn. Amongst them is the largest free-hanging cuckoo clock in the world. We then re-join the coach to the charismatic town of Boppard. Take a stroll along the beautiful promenade and visit many of the individual shops and restaurants with the opportunity to visit St. Stevens Church.

Day 5

Return to home area making suitable comfort stops along the way.
