DDay 2
After breakfast travel to the mighty Raby Castle to discover over 600 years of history during a guided tour. It is one of the finest and best-preserved medieval castles in North East England. The approach to the castle is particularly beautiful as its towers and turrets appear and disappear amongst the trees of the surrounding parkland with its ornamental lakes and herds of deer. The exterior dates to the 11th Century. Lunch can be purchased in the Stables Café before travelling to the award-winning Bowes Museum, which has been delighting visitors for over 100 years. A romantic history with stunning galleries can be discovered inside this fabulous, listed building which resembles a French chateau.
B, DDay 3
After breakfast travel north to visit the world famous Beamish Open-Air Museum. Experience amazing sights, sounds, smells and delicious tastes as the past comes to life. Beamish is unique - the objects aren't locked away in glass cases, this is hands-on history! Step into the past and explore the 350-acre site, as Beamish tells the story of the people of North East England in the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. We have a full day to explore everything on offer here before returning to the hotel for our evening meal.
