Today we meet our local guide in Evesham for a 2-hour coach tour of the fabulous Blossom Trail. Afterwards enjoy a relaxing boat trip with cream tea on the River Avon, before returning to our hotel.B, D
After breakfast travel to the lovely spa town of Cheltenham for free time. The town is renowned for its Regency architecture, stylish shopping, colourful parks and floral displays. Opportunity to purchase lunch in one of the town's many restaurants before our afternoon journey on the Gloucester & Warwickshire Steam railway. Enjoy a return journey to Toddington, where there is a shop, museum and large tearoom. The line commands wonderful views of the hamlets & villages along the way, with wonderful outlooks to the Malvern Hills and beyond. After breakfast we head for Tewksbury with its picturesque riverside setting. Take a stroll down Church Street, lined with half-timbered houses and punctuated with Tewkesbury's famous alleyways. In the afternoon we visit the lovely city of Gloucester. Wander around Gloucester's glorious medieval Cathedral, which was used as Hogwarts in most of the Harry Potter films, or alternatively visit the Victorian docks with opportunity to explore the awardwinning Gloucester Waterways Museum (price not included, approx. £7.50 pp) overlooking the River Severn.B, D
We say farewell to Cheltenham and return to home area stopping in Wallingford, a beautiful Oxfordshire Market town situated on the River Thames. Wallingford has a strong presence in murder mystery fiction. Agatha Christie (who is buried at nearby Cholsey) lived and worked in Wallingford, taking influence from local landmarks and residents in Winterbrook stories such as Miss Marple. More recently, Wallingford is the location of Causton in the TV series Midsomer Murders. Many of the series' extras herald from Wallingford.B
