Gourmet Delights of Normandy

Day 1

Depart from home in the morning and travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. On arrival we continue to our hotel on the outskirts of Lisieux arriving with time to unpack before evening meal.

Day 2

This morning we visit the Fromagerie Graindorge for an audio guided tour of the cheese factory, discovering the unique way Livarot and Pont-l'Eveque cheeses are produced. The tour is followed by a tasting of four of the delicious cheeses. We then travel to the beautiful themed Jardins du Pays d'Auge, which cover 4 acres set around picturesque half-timbered farm buildings dating back to the 16th century. Perhaps enjoy some lunch in the rustic 'creperie' in the gardens before we visit Chateau Du Breuil Calvados distillery for a guided tour. We discover the show process of transforming apples into Calvados and enjoy tasting the calvadox accompanied with a tasty Norman apple tart!

Day 3

Today we visit the charming port town of Honfluer, located on the beautiful Cote Fleurie. Honfleur's beauty has long attracted artists whose work can be seen in the town's museums and art galleries. Perhaps explore the old harbour or enjoy some local seafood at one of the many restaurants.

Day 4

This morning we visit the 18th century Chateau de Vendeuvre, one of the most beautiful castles in Normandy. Following our guided tour of the chateau and gardens, we enjoy a traditional 4 course Normandy lunch with a glass of wine overlooking the gardens. In the afternoon we return to Lisieux with time to explore the beautiful town of pilgrimage before evening meal.

Day 5

After breakfast we leave and begin our homeward journey.
