Day 1:

Morning collection from home to join the coach for the journey to our hotel in Wiltshire arriving early afternoon.

Day 2:

Today we head towards Batsford Arboretum. Tucked away on the south facing escarpment of the Cotswolds hills, this jewel of the Cotswolds holds one of the largest collections of shrubs and trees. Take time to wonder through the ever changing landscape. This afternoon meander through some of the typical Cotswolds villages, including the incredibly pretty village of Broadway. This is described as a typically English village, with its honey coloured buildings clustered around the green. Followed by Bourton-on- the-Water, often referred to as ‘Little Venice’ and regularly voted as one of the prettiest villages in England.

Day 3:

Our excursion today takes us to Cirencester, the ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’ and second largest town in England during Roman Times. John the Baptist Church dominates the market square and there is a fine Roman Museum worth visiting. This afternoon we visit Sudeley Castle Gardens, owned by Lord and Lady Ashcombe. There are nine award winning gardens which sweep round the Castle, all with a unique style and design.

Day 4:

After breakfast we make our way eastward to Blenheim Palace, home of the Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Winston Churchill. The palace is a unique example of English baroque architecture. Inside, the scale of the palace is beautifully balanced by the intricate detail and delicacy of the carvings, the hand painted ceilings and the amazing porcelain collections, tapestries and painting displayed in each room. We return to the hotel via Burford with its magnificent trees lined main streets.
