Day 1

We travel to the hotel in Grantham stopping in the historic market town of Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pie and specialty cheeses, for lunch to be purchased. Known as the 'Rural Capital of Food', there are many cafes, restaurants and tea rooms to choose from. Opportunity to visit Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe. Continue to the hotel later with time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 2

After breakfast travel to Leicester, a friendly city bursting with heritage and culture. This morning we visit the King Richard III Visitor Centre, which charts the story of the king's life and death, revealing one of the greatest archaeological detective stories ever told. Afterwards, spend time at leisure in the city to purchase lunch. The centre is a stone's throw away from Leicester Cathedral and the tomb of King Richard. This afternoon we have a guided tour of the Cathedral before returning to the hotel later, with time to use the leisure facilities or relax with a drink at the bar before our evening meal.

Day 3

Today we visit Belvoir Castle, a historic gem in the heart of England which is one of the finest examples of Regency architecture in the world. Wander the Castle and the gardens here - they are truly a beautiful and tranquil space. Lunch can be purchased in the Engine Yard, which is home to a distinctive selection of shops right next to the Castle. The Fuel Tank produces delicious local sandwiches, salads and specials. Afterwards, travel to Belvoir Brewery, 2022 marks their 27th year of brewing excellence! Here we enjoy a guided tour followed by a tasting, please be aware practical footwear is required (no high heels, sandals, flip-flops or open-toes shoes).

Day 4

After breakfast we head for the beautiful Barnsdale Gardens, created by Britain's best loved gardener, the late Geoff Hamilton, star of Gardener's World. Known as a 'theme park for gardeners', it boasts 38 individual gardens in an 8-acre sight. See the amazing range of ideas in these individually designed and well-stocked gardens, all built on peat-free, organic principles! Afterwards travel to the pretty, traditional English market town of Oakham - look out for the unusual stocks - the five-hole stocks are somewhat of a mystery! We end the day with a relaxing cream tea cruise on Rutland Water with tea, coffee and scones with jam & cream.

Day 5

After breakfast return to home area stopping in the beautiful historic town of St Ives, Cambridgeshire, for lunch to be purchased.
