Day 1

Following collection from home, depart East Anglia arriving by late afternoon at the Mercure Newton Park Hotel for the four night dinner, bed and breakfast stay.

Day 2

This morning, drive to the historic City of Lichfield. The triple spires of the magnificent cathedral dominate the city. Beyond the quiet Cathedral Close the city's prominence as an 18th Century coaching hub is pleasantly obvious with an old-world charm of pre-industrial streets and historical buildings. Travel to the National Arboretum at Alrewas, with time to purchase lunch. Set on the banks of the River Tame in a 150 acres site, it is conceived as a living memorial to the 20th Century heroes and heroines who sacrificed their lives for their country.

B, D

Day 3

Leicestershire is the first destination today, with a ride on the Great Central Railway to Loughborough. This heritage line crosses picturesque Swithland reservoir and passes through lovingly restored stations like Rothley and Quorn. At Loughborough purchase lunch before heading to Calke Abbey in Derbyshire to hear the dramatic decline of a grand country house estate.

B, D

Day 4

This morning, explore Cannock Chase Museum and discover the area's history and mining heritage. From here, travel to Chasewater and The Chasewater light railway operating from Brownhills West across the country park to Chasewater Heaths Station, a round trip of four miles. After, enjoy a browse around the gift shop for a souvenir or refreshments at the Sidings Tea Room.

B, D

Day 5

After the final breakfast travel back to East Anglia where the door to door collection service will be waiting to return you home.
