Day 1

We travel to the Lake District making suitable comfort stops along the way, including a stop at Dobbie's Garden Centre for lunch to be purchased. We arrive at the Auckland Hotel in time to freshen up before our evening meal.


Day 2

After breakfast we have a day exploring the spectacular Lake District. We will be visiting the market town of Kendal for morning refreshments to be purchased before continuing over the Kirkstone Pass through Glenridding to Keswick for lunch to be purchased. Afterwards travel via Grassmere, Rydal, Ambleside to Bowness on Windermere. Bowness is truly a delightful town in the Lake District. There will be opportunity to enjoy a boat ride on Lake Windermere (price not included, approx. £10pp). Return to the hotel in time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 3

After breakfast we travel through the Yorkshire Dales, our first stop is the charming town of Skipton. With its famous 900-year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street, Skipton is endlessly rich both in history and outstanding natural beauty. Wednesday is market day*. After exploring the area, we visit Hawes, home to the world-famous Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese. Set amongst breath-taking scenery it is no surprise Hawes is one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We arrive back at the hotel in time to relax before our evening meal.

Day 4

Today we visit Levens Hall, located at the gateway to the Lake District National Park. Marvel at the beautifully privately-owned house and gardens, home to the world's oldest topiary gardens and centre of a thriving 9,500-acre agricultural estate which provides much of the produce used in Levens Kitchen. Opportunity to purchase lunch here before returning to Morecambe via Carnforth Station Heritage Centre. Famous for David Lean's film 'Brief Encounter', here we can see the famous clock, look around the heritage centre and use the Brief Encounter Refreshments Tea Room.

Day 5

After breakfast, we travel back to our home area stopping at the National Memorial Arboretum, Stafford, for lunch to be purchased.
